BHC celebrates international culture with food, films and guest lecturers

The UCF Burnett Honors College will host a series of gatherings with an international flair throughout the semester. The forums will feature a selection of foreign films, popular cuisines and guest lecturers from Italy and Japan.

The events began in September with the screening of a Japanese Anime flick followed in early October by a period Italian film.

The next event, a screening of  “Lezioni di Cioccolato” (Lessons in Chocolate) will be hosted on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. in the Honors Reading Room. The film, a romantic comedy, features plot twists immersed in chocolate and blackmail.

Other events will feature how-to sessions in making popular treats from Italy and Japan.

On Nov. 15, 2011, from 1-3 p.m., the BHC will host an international pot luck meal in honor of International Education Week. Honors students, faculty and staff are encouraged to bring an international dish to share. A $5 donation per ticket will go to the Children’s Miracle Network. Entertainment in the form of cultural performances by Honors students will be provided.

Capping off the series will be a live webcast from the Bottega del Biscotto bakery in Cremona, Italy where pastry chef Dario Castellucchio will teach students how to make Italian pastries. This event will take place from 4-6 p.m. in the Honors Conference Room.
